| I talked to an Engine builder about using ARP head studs on the VG30DETT.. He mentioned that he stacks the STOCK washers and ARP washers in tandem. I trust his judgement but it never hurts for 2nd opinions. This is for two reasons.. the diameter of the ARP washers are smaller than stock .. so the greater surface area of stock have better clamping force. AND. The length of the shank are too long for the VG where the nuts would bottom out on the threads before it would properly torque the head down.. I found a post from Aliaz about ARP offering larger diamter head stud washers.. I did shoot him an email about them. [ http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/general/view/2192199/ARP-sells-a-larger-diameter-washer-as-an-option.html ] Have any of you others used BOTH stock and ARP washers together? It just doesn't seem right (to me).. because the increased possibility of the torque settings being thrown off if one washer slipped etc.
Please give me your experiences etc. thanks! Kong
